Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Media Forge is operated by [Company Legal Name], registered in Romania at [Company Address] ("Media Forge," "we," "us"). This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data when you use our website and software, and describes the rights available to you under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other applicable data protection laws.

2. Information we collect on our website

When you create a Media Forge account, we collect only your email address, username, and password (stored as a secure hash, never in plaintext). Billing details are collected and processed directly by our payment provider — we do not store full card numbers on our own servers.

Our website may also collect standard technical data automatically, such as IP address and browser type, for security and basic analytics purposes.

3. Information used by the desktop application

The Media Forge desktop application stores its operational data — including proxy configurations, browser profile settings, connected account details, and processed content — locally on your own device, in a local database on your computer. This data is not transmitted to, or stored on, Media Forge's servers.

The application communicates with our servers only to verify your account and subscription status. Beyond that, your configuration and content data remain under your own control, on your own machine.

4. How we use your information

We use the limited account information described above to:

  • authenticate your account and verify your subscription;
  • process payments and manage billing;
  • communicate important account, security, and product updates;
  • respond to support requests;
  • maintain the security of our website and prevent abuse;
  • comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

5. Legal basis for processing

Where GDPR applies, we process your data on the following legal bases:

  • Contract — processing necessary to provide the Service you've subscribed to;
  • Legitimate interests — securing our systems and preventing fraud and abuse;
  • Consent — for optional communications you can opt out of at any time;
  • Legal obligation — where we're required to retain or disclose data by law.

6. Data security

Passwords are hashed and never stored in plaintext. We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect the account data on our servers, and payment information is handled by our PCI-compliant payment processor. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Because your proxy configurations, browser profiles, and processed content remain on your own device, you are responsible for securing your own computer and local data.

7. Data retention

We retain your account data (email, username, hashed password) for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete this data within a reasonable period, except where we're required to retain it for legal, tax, accounting, or fraud-prevention purposes. Data stored locally by the application on your device is under your control and is not retained by us at all.

8. Third-party services

We rely on a trusted payment provider to process billing information, and standard infrastructure providers to run our website. These providers process data only as needed to deliver their services and under contractual obligations consistent with this policy. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

If any of these providers are located outside the European Economic Area, we ensure an adequate level of protection through appropriate safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

9. Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in on the website and understand basic usage of the site. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling some cookies may affect the functionality of the website.

10. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • request correction of inaccurate data;
  • request deletion of your account data;
  • request restriction or object to certain processing;
  • request a portable copy of your data;
  • withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent;
  • lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.

You may exercise most of these rights directly from your profile, or by contacting our support team.

11. Children's privacy

The Service is not directed at individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll notify you of material changes before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
